DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Part-time Faculty, Cosmetology positions are available to teach in the evening. The program prepares individuals for successful employment as cosmetologists. This position reports directly to the Associate Dean, School of Health, Wellness, and Public Safety.
Responsibilities:
Promotes College mission, values, and vision
Teaches assigned courses in classroom, lab and /or salon settings to meet program needs including, but not limited to, day, evening, weekend, and distance courses
Evaluates student progress and provides appropriate feedback
Develops course syllabi and provides appropriate written information to students concerning course evaluation and criteria
Explore, assess, and implement appropriate instructional technology to enhance student learning outcomes
Carries out a program of self evaluation to determine instructional effectiveness
Participate in activities necessary to maintain program compliance with North Carolina Board of Cosmetology
Assists in the evaluation of courses and programs
Prepares and submits instructional records, reports, and grades established by institutional policy
Attends appropriate College and School meetings
Assists in student recruitment and retention
Maintains appropriate office hours and accessibility for students, faculty and staff
Participates in professional development to enhance instructional and technical skills
Performs other tasks as assigned which support the mission and initiatives of the College
EXPERIENCE NEEDED:
Current unrestricted license as a cosmetologist in North Carolina
Current teaching certificate for cosmetology or esthetics

SALARY / BENEFITS: $25.29 - $27.28 based on applicant's education and the state budget / None
REQUIREMENTS FOR HIRING (min age, education, drug test, skills
testing):
Qualifications Required:
Current unrestricted license as a cosmetologist in North Carolina
Current teaching certificate for cosmetology or esthetics
Creativity and openness to change
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong computer skills (including familiarity with MS Offic 2007) and commitment to the use of technology in instruction
Ability to worth effectively and collegially with others in a team environment
Familiarity with and appreciation for the mission of a comprehensive community college
Effectiveness in the following College organizational competencies:

Qualifications Preferred:
Associate in Applied Science degree or Bachelors degree in cosmetic arts or related field from a regionally accredited institution
