JOB TITLE: Petroleum Terminal Labor Tech              APPLICATION DEADLINE: 09/24/2010

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Monitor process indicators, instruments, gauges, and meters in order to detect and report any possible problems. Start pumps and open valves or use automated equipment to regulate the flow of oil in pipelines and into/out of tanks. Control or operate manifold and pumping systems to circulate liquids through a petroleum refinery. Signal other works by telephone or radio to operate pumps, open and close valves, and check temperatures. Verify that incoming and outgoing products are moving through the correct meters, and that meters are working properly. Read automatic gauges at specified intervals to determine the flow rate of oil into or from tanks, and the amount of oil in tanks. Operate auxiliary equipment and control multiple processing units during distilling or treating operations, moving controls that regulate valves, pumps, compressors, and auxiliary equipment. Plan movement of products through lines to processing, storage, and shipping units, utililzing knowledge of system interconnections and capacities. Read and analyze specificatinos, schedules, logs, test results, and laboratory recommendations to determine how to set equipment controls to produce the required qualities and quantities of products. Maintain and repair equipment, or report malfunctioning equipment to supervisors so that repairs can be scheduled. Collect product samples by turning bleeder valves, or by lowering containers into tanks to obtain oil samples. Inspect pipelines, tightening connections and lubricating valves as necessary. Test boiler water quality or arrange for testing and take necessary corrective action such as adding chemicals to prevent corrosion and harmful deposits. Activate valves to maintain required amounts of water in boilers, to adjust supplies of combustion air, and to control the flow of fuel into burners. Monitor boiler water, chemical, and fuel levels, and make adjustments to maintain required levels. Adjust controls/valves on equipment to provide power, and to regulate and set operations of system or industrial processes.  

EXPERIENCE NEEDED:
Must have 2 - 3 years experience with operating equipment (i.e. forklift/bobcat, cranes, and backhoe). Prior experience in an industrial setting including outside environment (heat/cold) and extreme conditions for long periods of time. Must be able to lift 75 - 150 lbs and by physically strong to perform various functions on rail cars. Must be able to work shift rotations (i.e. 5:00 am - 7:00 pm and 10:00 pm - 6:00 am)

JOB HOURS: (1st) 5:00 am - 7:00 pm (2nd) (3rd) 10:00 pm - 6:00 am Days: Monday - Saturday

SALARY / BENEFITS: DOE /   Medical, Dental, Life, Vacation

REQUIREMENTS FOR HIRING (min age, education, drug test, skills testing):
Must be 18 years of age. High School Diploma or equivalency GED. Must have a satisfactorily completion of a criminal background check and pre-employment drug test.
